Recently took my son for a lesson. Very friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable coaches, great facilities. Totally recommend.
Best beginner boxing club London
For beginners, the best boxing club is rarely the flashiest one. It is the one that teaches properly, explains the basics, keeps you safe and gives you a realistic way to keep coming back.
We cannot prove H&G is the best beginner club in London. We can show the beginner route we have built and invite you to test it in a free class.
For complete beginners, adult starters, people returning to fitness and nervous first-timers. First scheduled group class free. Personal training is paid separately.
Decision criteria
A beginner-friendly boxing club should make the first month clearer, not just the first session.
01
You learn stance, guard, movement and basic punches before complex combinations.
02
The coach adapts intensity without turning the class into a token beginner session.
03
There is no expectation that you spar, fight or buy expensive kit before trying.
04
You know which class to book and what it costs after the trial.
05
The class is structured enough that you do not feel lost after the warm-up.
06
There is a progression route if you want more skill, fitness, sparring or competition later.
H&G approach
The point is not to hide behind a careful headline. The page should help you decide whether the club is a serious fit.
Adult beginners normally start in Adult Recreational boxing, not in a fighting class.
You can try one free group class before deciding whether to continue.
Gloves can be lent for the first session, so you do not need to buy kit first.
If group classes feel too much, paid beginner personal training is a separate route.
Evidence and routes
These are the pages to inspect if you want specifics rather than marketing adjectives.
The core route for adults who want proper boxing without sparring pressure.
Adult beginner boxingUse the free class page if you want to understand the first visit before booking.
First class detailsUse this if you want one-to-one coaching before a group class. This is paid, not part of the free class offer.
Beginner PTLocal fit
H&G is a practical beginner route for people around Kidbrooke, Greenwich, Blackheath, Lewisham, Charlton, Woolwich, Eltham, Bromley and Bexley who want to start boxing without travelling across London every week.
Member and parent reviews
Reviews cannot prove a city-wide superlative, but they help you understand what people repeatedly notice about the club.

The class with John was excellent. First time doing boxing training and he was patient as well as extremely informative when explaining the beginner boxing fundamentals. Highly recommend this class to someone hesitating to start at the beginning.
