This is where most of our young members train. Junior Recreational is for ages 7-16, with coaching adapted to the age and experience in the room. They learn boxing properly - technique, fitness and discipline - without the pressure of competition.

If you are comparing youth boxing training near me or junior boxing classes, this is the normal first step at Honour and Glory. Check travel from your area, then book a free trial so your child can meet the coach and try one structured session.

Some of our juniors train once a week. Others are here three nights a week. There is no minimum commitment and no expectation. They train at their own pace, with coaches who know every one of them by name.

WHAT A SESSION LOOKS LIKE

1

WARM-UP & SKIPPING (10 mins)

Three rounds of skipping, shadow boxing, and dynamic stretching. It is a proper warm-up - it gets the heart rate up and the muscles ready.

2

TECHNIQUE (20 mins)

The coaches teach specific combinations and defensive moves. Jab-cross, hooks, slipping, pivoting. Everyone works on the same skill but at their own level. New starters get extra attention.

3

PAD WORK & BAGS (20 mins)

Paired up on pads or working the heavy bags. This is where the technique gets tested. Coaches circulate and give feedback. It is hard work, but that is the point.

4

CONDITIONING & COOL-DOWN (10 mins)

Bodyweight exercises, core work, then stretching. The session finishes together as a group.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

CHILDREN WHO NEED AN OUTLET

School, screens and restless energy - boxing gives them something physical and focused. An hour where the phone stays in the bag.

KIDS WHO HAVE TRIED OTHER SPORTS

Football not their thing? That is fine. Boxing is individual - they progress at their own speed without being picked last or left on the bench.

YOUNG PEOPLE LACKING CONFIDENCE

There is something about learning to box that changes how you carry yourself. We see it happen over and over.

FUTURE COMPETITORS

If they love it and want to take it further, we have a clear pathway into Junior Competitive. But there is zero pressure to go that route.

Not sure if this is right for your child?

If your child needs extra confidence, structure or a gentler first visit, use the parent route guide before booking. Junior Recreational is still the normal first step, but the way we introduce them can change.

WHY IT WORKS

Structure without rigidity. There is a clear routine to every session, but coaches adapt to the group. It feels disciplined without being military.

Real skill development. These are structured boxing sessions, not generic fitness classes. They learn proper boxing - the same fundamentals our amateur fighters train.

A sense of belonging. The gym becomes their place. They make friends, they have coaches who look out for them, and they are part of something.

Physical fitness. Boxing is a full-body workout. Coordination, stamina, strength - it all improves quickly, especially at this age.

"My son has been training here for two years and the transformation is incredible. Not just physically - his confidence, discipline and respect have grown massively."

Parent questions

BEFORE YOU BOOK

If you are checking age, nerves, sparring or competition, start here. For the longer parent guide, read what age children can start boxing.

What age can my child start Junior Recreational?

Junior Recreational is for ages 7-16. Children under 7 are usually better served by general movement and coordination activities until they are ready for a structured group boxing class.

Does my child have to spar?

No. Junior Recreational is not built around sparring. Children learn through movement, bags, pads, shadow boxing, partner drills and controlled coaching.

Does my child have to compete?

No. Most juniors start recreationally and there is no pressure to compete. Children who want the competition pathway can be considered for Junior Competitive from age 10 if the coaches think they are ready.

What if my child is nervous?

That is normal. The first session is kept simple: meet the coach, join the warm-up, try the drills and see how they feel. Coaches can ease nervous children in without forcing them to perform.

Can parents watch the first session?

Yes. Parents can stay close for the first session, especially with younger or nervous children. The aim is to help the child settle, not to rush them.

What is the best first step?

Book a free trial for Junior Recreational. One session is usually enough to see whether the child likes the gym, the coach and the structure of the class.

What if my child needs a gentler first step?

Junior Recreational is still usually the right first step, but tell us before the session. Coaches can keep the start simple and support the child without pushing them into competition or contact.
