QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Everything you need to know about training at H&G.

These are the questions we hear most often from people considering their first class or their first competition. If your question is not here, message us on WhatsApp or use the contact form.

Getting Started

What should I bring to my first session?

+

Wear comfortable sportswear and trainers. Bring a water bottle. We provide all boxing equipment including gloves, wraps, and pads. Just turn up ready to train.

Do I need boxing experience?

+

No experience needed. We have complete beginners in every session. Our coaches will teach you proper technique from the ground up. Everyone starts somewhere.

Are your coaches qualified?

+

Yes. Our coaches are BBBofC licensed and ABA affiliated. All coaches are DBS checked and safeguarding certified. We take coaching qualifications and child safety seriously.

Do you offer kickboxing?

+

No - we're a boxing club, not kickboxing. But if you're looking for a striking martial art that builds fitness, confidence and self-defence skills, boxing ticks all the same boxes. Many of our members came in searching for kickboxing and stayed because they loved the training. Try a free session and see for yourself.

Classes & Training

What age groups do you cater for?

+

We train boxers from age 7 upwards. Infants Boxing is for 7-9 year olds, Junior Recreational and Junior Competitive for 10-16, and adult sessions for 16+. There's no upper age limit - we have members in their 50s training regularly.

Do I have to spar or compete?

+

No. Our recreational classes focus on technique, fitness, and pad work - no sparring required. If you want to compete, we have dedicated Elite sessions with sparring and competition preparation. It's your choice.

Membership & Pricing

How much does it cost?

+

All sessions are pay-as-you-go with no contracts or sign-up fees. Prices start from £5 per session depending on the class. See our full pricing breakdown on the prices page.

Competition

How do I start competing?

+

To compete, you need to be registered with the Amateur Boxing Alliance and have a valid medical card. Talk to Coach Anton about getting carded. You'll need to train consistently in our Elite sessions before your first bout - we'll let you know when you're ready.

Facilities & Location

Where are you located?

+

Honour & Glory Boxing Club, 122 Broad Walk, London SE3 8ND. We're in Kidbrooke, Greenwich - about 10 minutes walk from Kidbrooke Station. Buses 178, 286, and 422 stop on Shooters Hill Road nearby. Free parking available.
