Cutman services and fight hand wrapping

Proper preparation starts before the first bell. Speak to Anton Pattenden about gauze and tape hand wraps, corner support and the practical demands of your show.

Work with a coach who knows the corner

Anton is Honour and Glory's head coach, a licensed cutman and a BBBofC-licensed coach. His work at the club includes preparing boxers for competition and cornering on show night. You can read his background on our boxing coaches page.

Whether you are preparing for one bout or putting together a full card, give us the details early. A hand-wrapping appointment for one boxer and a cutman attending several bouts are different jobs. Agreeing the brief beforehand gives everyone a clear arrival time and a clear understanding of who is doing what.

Tell Anton what you need

Send the fight date, venue, promoter, number of boxers and the support you need. We take enquiries from fighters, coaches and show organisers.

Gauze and tape fight hand wraps

Reusable training wraps and gauze-and-tape fight wraps have different jobs. For a bout, the organiser's rules determine what is permitted, who may apply it and how it is checked. Anton can discuss fight hand wrapping using medical-grade 100% cotton gauze and tape, subject to those requirements.

Tell us which show you are boxing on and what the organiser has asked you to bring. Include your glove size, the time you need to be ready and any instructions about inspections. Do not assume the wrapping arrangements from your last event apply to this one.

Professional boxing has specific requirements for seconds, bandages and equipment in the British Boxing Board of Control rules. Amateur and white-collar organisers may use different arrangements. We will agree the appropriate approach for your event.

Corner support for fighters and promoters

For an individual fighter, the first conversation is about the bout and your existing team. Tell us who is coaching you, who is already in your corner and whether you need wrapping only or support during the contest. Corner access must be confirmed with the promoter.

For a promoter, send the proposed running order, number of bouts and expected timings. If several boxers need hands wrapped, the preparation schedule matters as much as the first bell. A realistic plan leaves time for checks, glove fitting and last-minute changes.

Cutman support is separate from medical cover. It does not replace a ringside doctor, an emergency plan or the organiser's responsibilities. No one should be promising that a cutman can make an injured boxer fit to continue.

White-collar and Quest boxing enquiries

If you are preparing for a white-collar event, the most useful first message is the name of the organiser and the date of the bout. We can discuss white-collar boxing training alongside your fight-night arrangements.

For Quest, start with our Quest Boxing League preparation guide. Check your entry category, bout format and corner arrangements with Quest directly. H&G offers independent coaching and service enquiries; a booking with us does not secure a place on a third-party card.

Organising a boxing show in London?

Start with the room and the audience you can realistically bring. Our London boxing venue directory covers community halls, event spaces and larger arenas, with past boxing dates and practical venue information. Send us your preferred venue and we can discuss helping organise the show.

We are based in Greenwich at 122 Broad Walk, Kidbrooke, London SE3 8ND. Attendance at another venue is by arrangement. If you are still at the training stage, book a free first group session or discuss individual preparation through boxing personal training.

Cutman service questions

Can I book fight hand wrapping without a full corner service?

Yes, ask about hand wrapping on its own. Send your fight date, venue, glove size and organiser requirements so Anton can confirm what is possible and the price.

Do you take enquiries for white-collar and Quest bouts?

Yes. Tell us the organiser and the exact bout. Corner access, permitted materials and checks must be agreed with that organiser. An enquiry to H&G does not register you for a Quest event.

How much do cutman services cost?

There is no single price for every show. The quote depends on the date, location, number of boxers and whether you need hand wrapping, corner support or attendance across the card. Ask for a written scope and price.

Does a cutman replace the ringside doctor?

No. Cutman and corner work are separate from the event medical team. The organiser must make the required medical arrangements and the appropriate officials decide whether a bout can continue.
