BOXING OVER 40
You are not too old. You are not too unfit. You are not too late. Boxing is one of the best things you can do for your body and mind after 40.
WHY BOXING AFTER 40
Most people who walk into Honour and Glory for the first time over 40 have the same thought: they should have done this years ago. Boxing training after 40 is not about fighting. It is about building functional fitness, coordination, mental sharpness, and genuine strength - all in a way that keeps you engaged rather than bored.
The research is clear. High-intensity interval training - which boxing closely resembles - produces greater cardiovascular and functional fitness benefits for adults over 50 than moderate-intensity exercise. Boxing specifically builds the reactive balance, hand-eye coordination, and rotational core strength that tend to decline with age.
At H&G, our coaches adapt every session to the individual. If you have a dodgy knee, a stiff shoulder, or you have not exercised in a decade, they work with that - not against it. Nobody is expected to keep up with the 20 year olds. You train at your pace, and your pace improves.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- • Warm-up and stretch (coaches understand that bodies over 40 need proper preparation)
- • Technique work - stance, guard, basic punches. Proper form matters more than speed
- • Pad work with a coach. This is the part everyone loves
- • Bag work and conditioning at your own pace
- • Cool-down. You will be tired but you will want to come back
You do not need equipment for your first session. Gloves and wraps are available at the gym. Wear something comfortable that you can move in. Bring water.
Sessions cost from £5. No contract. No joining fee. Pay as you go. If you try it and it is not for you, you stop. No cancellation forms, no 30-day notice periods, no guilt.
No obligation. No pressure. Just come and try it.
