Boxing Classes for Beginners Near New Cross
Boxing Classes for Beginners Near New Cross
The question most beginners ask is whether they are fit enough to start boxing. The answer is that boxing training builds the fitness required to do it. You do not need to arrive ready; you arrive and get ready.
Honour and Glory Boxing Club is at 122 Broad Walk, Kidbrooke, SE3 8ND. From New Cross it is an 18-minute drive or around 35 to 40 minutes by Overground to Lewisham and onward transport. Adult sessions run Monday to Friday, 7:30pm to 9pm, at £10 each.
Your First Session
A coach will work with you from the start. The first session covers stance, guard, footwork, and your first jab. You work with a partner or directly with a coach. The pace is manageable and everything is demonstrated before you attempt it.

No gloves or wraps needed for the first visit. Comfortable training clothes and a water bottle are sufficient.
What Changes After a Few Weeks
By the third or fourth session, the basic movements begin to feel natural. You start to string combinations together and the conditioning rounds feel less severe. The technical development and the physical improvement happen at the same time.
Most beginners who commit to two sessions per week notice significant changes in fitness within four to six weeks. The technique development takes longer, but the early progress is visible.
The Club Environment
New Cross draws people who are thoughtful about what they put their time into. The environment at H&G matches that. It is purposeful, technically grounded, and free of the performative atmosphere that puts people off at some commercial boxing gyms.
Recreational adult boxing at H&G is coached by BBBofC-licensed staff. The club is ABA affiliated and has over 200 members across south east London.
No Long Commitment
Sessions are pay as you go. There is no contract, no direct debit, and no joining fee. £10 per session is the only cost. You can attend every evening or once a fortnight. The structure fits around you.
Members from nearby Deptford and Greenwich train at H&G and many started as beginners.
