Kids Boxing Classes Near Deptford

Two Age Groups, Two Different Approaches

The programme divides into two groups based on age and developmental stage.

Junior Recreational (ages 7-16): The starting point for most children, focused on movement, coordination, listening, bags, pads and safe training habits. Sessions run Mon/Wed/Fri 5-6pm.

Junior Competitive (ages 10 to 16, when suitable): This group trains boxing with greater technical depth. Combinations become more complex. Defensive mechanics are introduced. Pad work is a central part of the session. For teenagers who want to compete, the junior programme is the foundation for Amateur Boxing Alliance registration and the amateur pathway.

Junior Recreational runs Mon/Wed/Fri 5-6pm. Junior Competitive runs Mon/Wed/Fri 6-7:30pm.

What Makes This Different From School Sport

School PE develops general physical literacy. It does not develop the specific skills of boxing. A child who trains at Honour and Glory twice a week for three months will have a measurable improvement in coordination, spatial awareness, and physical confidence that goes beyond what school sport produces.

The discipline element is real too. Boxing requires sustained focus. You cannot be distracted during a pad round. The mental discipline required in the gym tends to carry over in ways that parents often comment on: improved concentration, better response to instruction, more willingness to persist through difficulty.

Safety and Coaching Standards

All coaches are DBS checked. The gym is ABA affiliated and coaches hold current ABA qualifications. The British Boxing Board of Control licences also apply to the coaching staff.

Contact sparring for juniors is introduced carefully and only when the coach judges the child to be technically ready. It is not a feature of the early stages of training. Parents who are concerned about this should know that the junior programme is focused on skill development, not contact sport.
