Boxing Near Deptford (2026 Guide)

Deptford is one of the most historically interesting parts of south east London. The market on Deptford High Street, the creative community along the riverfront, the layers of history from the old naval dockyard. It is a place with genuine character.

What it does not have, despite that character, is a fully equipped boxing club with nationally licensed coaching. For that, Kidbrooke is the answer.

Honour and Glory Boxing Club is at 122 Broad Walk, SE3 8ND. From central Deptford, the drive takes around 16 minutes.

Getting There From Deptford

Car: 16 minutes via the A2 and Kidbrooke Park Road. Free parking at the gym. This is the most direct option for most Deptford residents.

Public transport: From Deptford Bridge DLR station, travel to Greenwich and connect toward Kidbrooke. Alternatively, the bus network via Lewisham provides a route. Allow 30 to 40 minutes by public transport.

From New Cross: Residents in the New Cross end of the Deptford area may find the drive via Lee Road and Burnt Ash Road quickest.

What You Find When You Get There

Honour and Glory is an independent community boxing club, founded in 2020 and now over 200 members. The coaches hold ABA qualifications and ABA/Alliance ratings. This is not a franchised operation and it is not a fitness studio with gloves on the wall.

Sessions cover the technical work that boxing training requires: stance, footwork, punching mechanics, defensive positioning, pad work with coaches, and bag rounds. The conditioning element is built into the session rather than bolted on as a separate circuit.

Why Deptford Residents Make the Trip

Deptford has a strong independent and community culture. The market traders, the artists, the long-term residents who have watched the area change without losing its identity. Honour and Glory fits that mindset: an independent club run by coaches who care about the sport rather than the optics of it.

The gym has 4.9 stars on Google from over 40 reviews. For a south east London boxing club, that rating reflects sustained quality rather than a strong launch month.

Adjacent Areas Worth Knowing

Members also travel from Greenwich and Lewisham, both of which are close to Deptford. The gym serves a wide catchment across SE London postcodes.
