Junior Recreational starts from age 7 and is the normal first step for most children. It teaches stance, guard, footwork, balance, bag work and pad work in a coached group setting, without asking a child to compete or spar before they are ready.
The best first step for most children. Coordination, listening, stance, footwork and pads without pressure to compete.

Parents are not just buying an activity slot. They are deciding whether the room feels safe, whether the coaching is structured, whether their child will be looked after, and whether boxing is going to be taught with the right boundaries.
Junior Recreational is the normal first step. It gives children a coached environment to learn stance, guard, footwork, balance, bags, pads, listening and effort. It is not a fight club for children and it is not a loose fitness game with boxing words attached.
Some children later move towards Junior Competitive from age 10 if they are ready for that level of commitment. That is a pathway decision made over time with coaches and parents, not a pressure placed on a child at the first trial.
Bring comfortable sports clothes, trainers and water. We can help with gloves and wraps at the start.
The early focus is coordination, control, listening and basic boxing technique, not uncontrolled contact.
Children who enjoy it can train more consistently and, if appropriate, discuss the competitive pathway later.

We take children from age 7. Junior Recreational (7-16) is the usual starting point for beginners. Junior Competitive is available from age 10 for children who are ready for a more serious pathway.
Boxing should be introduced carefully and coached properly. Children start with age-appropriate basics, protective equipment where needed, and are grouped by age, experience and readiness.
We are 4 minutes from Kidbrooke by car. By public transport it takes around 17 minutes via Bus 335. Free parking is available at our Kidbrooke gym, 122 Broad Walk, SE3 8ND.
Classes include warm-up exercises, footwork drills, technique instruction on the bags and pads, and structured games that develop boxing skills. Sessions are age-appropriate and designed to be engaging.
Boxing gives children structure, movement, listening practice and clear boundaries. At the Kidbrooke gym, Junior Recreational (ages 7 to 16) builds coordination, footwork, basic technique and controlled effort. From age 10, Junior Competitive adds a more serious amateur pathway with structured pad work, conditioning and bouts only when appropriate.
Junior sessions are supervised and structured for children and teenagers. We keep class sizes controlled so children can be coached properly. Parents are welcome to watch from the viewing area.
Children who train consistently often become more comfortable with routine, instruction and controlled effort. Some juniors later choose to compete, but the first job is safe, structured training that they can keep attending.
If you are still comparing options, start with our main kids boxing classes guide and the Junior Recreational class. For families in Kidbrooke, the key questions are how easy it is to get here and what your child should expect in the first session.
