Boxing Near Erith (2026 Guide)

Erith is a Thames-side town in the borough of Bexley with its own identity: the pier, the Playhouse, the train station, and a community that knows itself well. What Erith does not have is a serious boxing club on its doorstep. That is not unusual for this part of south-east London. Residents who want real coaching need to make a short journey.

Honour and Glory Boxing Club is at 122 Broad Walk, Kidbrooke, SE3 8ND. From Erith, the drive takes around 21 minutes. Free parking is available at the club.

Why Coaching Standard Matters

There is a clear distinction between a boxing club with proper credentials and a gym that includes boxing movements in its timetable. The coaching qualifications, the club affiliation, and the structure of the training are completely different.

Honour and Glory is ABA affiliated and staffed by ABA/Alliance-credentialed coaches. ABA affiliation places the club within the national governing body structure for amateur boxing in England. BBBofC licensing means the coaching meets a standard recognised across the sport. These credentials matter because they determine whether you are learning boxing or doing a boxing-flavoured workout.

The Full Picture of What Is Available

The club runs junior and senior routes:

• Junior Recreational, ages 7 to 16
• Junior Competitive, from age 10 where suitable
• Adults, 17 and over

Adult recreational classes run Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:30pm to 9pm. The fee is £10 per session with no contract, no joining fee, and no direct debit. Women's boxing runs on Saturdays, 10am to 11am, at the same rate.

Erith to Kidbrooke

Erith sits in the eastern corner of Bexley, and the route to Kidbrooke passes through familiar south-east London territory. For those who drive, free parking at the club removes any additional inconvenience. For those who prefer public transport, Erith station connects to routes that make the journey practical.

Many Erith members also share the trip with neighbours from Belvedere and Thamesmead, both of which are equally close to the club. The result is a membership that draws from a wide Thames corridor catchment.

The Club in Numbers

Over 200 members. 4.9-star Google rating from 40-plus reviews. Founded in 2020 as a community club, not a franchise. No contracts, no joining fees. The numbers reflect a club that retains members because the training is worth returning for.

Head coach Anton Pattenden and the wider coaching team are building something that goes beyond a typical gym. The combination of ABA affiliation and BBBofC licensing means the standards are externally verified, not just self-described.

If you are in Erith and want to find out what serious boxing coaching looks like, the trip to Kidbrooke is the right move.
