Kids Boxing Classes Near Charlton
Junior Boxing That Actually Coaches
There are plenty of gym sessions that dress themselves up as boxing classes. A circuit with some bag work, maybe a bit of skipping. What juniors at Honour and Glory receive is actual boxing coaching - technique, positioning, combinations, defence.
The junior programme runs for ages 10-16. Sessions run Monday to Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Head coach Anton Pattenden and his team hold BBBofC licences and train under ABA affiliation. This is a legitimate boxing operation, not a fitness side project.
What to Expect as a Junior Member

From session one, juniors work on the fundamentals. Guard position, footwork, the jab. It takes a few weeks before combinations start to feel natural, and that is fine. Good coaches know not to rush the foundation.
Pad work, bag work, and - for those who want it - sparring when the coaches judge readiness. Not everyone needs to spar. The sporting route and the fitness route diverge, and the programme accommodates both.
The Effect on Young People
Boxing changes behaviour in young people. Not in a vague way - in specific, observable ways. They become more disciplined about time. They listen more carefully. They manage frustration better because boxing teaches you that frustration without problem-solving is wasted energy.
Parents of juniors from Woolwich and Greenwich have commented on this regularly. Results tend to show in school as well as in the gym.
