Boxing Near Catford (2026 Guide)
Catford has the Broadway Theatre, the famous cat statues on the shopping centre, and a strong community identity that the rest of South East London tends to underestimate. What it does not have is a fully equipped boxing club with ABA-affiliated coaching.
For that, you travel north to Kidbrooke. Honour and Glory Boxing Club is at 122 Broad Walk, SE3 8ND. By car it takes around 16 minutes. The 178 bus connects Catford to Kidbrooke directly.
Getting There From Catford
Bus: The 178 runs between Catford and Woolwich, passing through Kidbrooke. Board at Catford or Catford Bridge and travel toward Woolwich. The journey to Kidbrooke takes approximately 20 to 25 minutes depending on traffic.
Car: Around 16 minutes via the South Circular and Kidbrooke Park Road. Free parking at the gym.
Train: From Catford Bridge or Catford station into London Bridge, then back out to Kidbrooke on the Southeastern line. This is longer in time but a useful option if you are commuting directly from the city.
What the Club Offers
Honour and Glory opened in 2020 and has grown to over 200 members. The coaches hold ABA qualifications and ABA/Alliance ratings. The gym is a proper boxing club, not a fitness studio that borrowed some gloves.

Training covers the technical foundations of boxing: stance, guard, footwork, punching mechanics, and defensive movement. Sessions involve bag work, pad work with coaches, and conditioning work. The standard is consistent whether you are attending your first session or your fiftieth.

Who Makes the Journey From Catford
The gym draws from SE6, SE12, SE13, and the surrounding areas. People from Catford make up a regular part of the membership. The journey is short enough that the 178 bus becomes a straightforward commute, particularly for the weekday evening sessions.
Catford is a community that backs independent businesses. Honour and Glory is exactly that: an independent club run by people who take boxing seriously.
What to Expect on Your First Visit
Come in workout clothes and trainers. The gym will provide gloves for your trial session. Arrive a few minutes early. The coach will run through the basics before the session starts.
If you have trained before, the first session will establish your current technical level. If you have not, it will start from scratch. Both are fine.
