Boxing Near Bermondsey: Your 2026 Guide

Bermondsey is one of the more active parts of inner south-east London. Bermondsey Street has restaurants, galleries, and independent shops worth visiting. The White Cube gallery sits at its southern end. Maltby Street Market draws a crowd every Saturday morning, and Jamaica Road cuts through the middle, connecting Bermondsey to Rotherhithe and New Cross.

What Bermondsey does not have is a serious, affordable boxing gym on its doorstep. The nearest option worth your time is Honour and Glory Boxing Club in Kidbrooke, around 24 minutes away by car via the A2.

About the Club

Honour and Glory was founded in 2020. It is not a franchise and it is not a commercial gym that added boxing as an afterthought. It is a proper boxing club, ABA affiliated, with coaches holding BBBofC licences.

Boxing training in South East London

The address is 122 Broad Walk, Kidbrooke, SE3 8ND. Free parking is available on site, which matters if you are driving over from Bermondsey in the evening after work.

The club has over 200 members and holds a 4.9-star rating on Google from more than 40 reviews. That kind of score does not happen by accident.

Classes and Times

Adult recreational boxing runs Monday to Friday, 7:30pm to 9pm. The cost is £10 per session. There is no contract, no joining fee, and no direct debit. You pay for the sessions you attend and nothing more.

For families, there are two junior programmes. Infants covers ages 5 to 9. Juniors covers ages 10 to 16. Both run from 5pm on weekdays.

The women's boxing class runs on Saturday mornings from 10:30am to 12pm. Also £10 per session, also pay as you go.

Getting There from Bermondsey

The most direct route by car is along the A2. Leave Bermondsey via Jamaica Road heading east, pick up the A2 through New Cross and Blackheath, and follow signs for Kidbrooke. The journey is under 25 minutes in ordinary traffic, and parking is free when you arrive.

By public transport, South Bermondsey station gives you rail access toward New Cross. From there, trains continue toward Kidbrooke and Blackheath. Check TfL journey planner for the best current combination. Several members make this journey regularly from SE1 and SE16.

What to Expect When You Arrive

You will get a proper boxing session. Pad work, bag work, conditioning, technical instruction. The coaching team holds genuine qualifications and has trained competitive fighters. This is not a branded fitness concept built around punching bags and a playlist.

Beginners are completely welcome. The evening classes mix people at different experience levels. Nobody is expected to walk in knowing anything about boxing, and nobody will make you feel out of place if you do not.

Who Trains Here

Members come from right across south-east London. Bermondsey, Peckham, New Cross, Greenwich, Woolwich. The club is community-focused and genuinely mixed in age, background, and ability. That atmosphere is one of the main reasons the retention rate is so high.

What to Bring

Hand wraps, gym clothes, and a water bottle. Gloves are available to borrow for your first session while you get a feel for the gym. Once you decide to commit, you will want your own pair.
