LONDON ABA

The London Amateur Boxing Association - our regional body

What is the London ABA?

The London Amateur Boxing Association is the regional branch of the Amateur Boxing Alliance, covering the greater London area. It coordinates competition between clubs across the capital, runs regional championships, and provides a local support structure for affiliated gyms and their boxers.

London has one of the richest amateur boxing traditions in the country. The capital's clubs have produced Olympic medallists, world champions, and thousands of boxers who simply love the sport. Being part of the London ABA places Honour & Glory within that tradition and gives our members access to the regional competitive circuit.

Regional competition

The London ABA organises regional championships, inter-club shows, and development events throughout the year. For boxers based in South East London, this means competitive opportunities closer to home - important for younger boxers and those just starting their competitive journey.

The regional structure works as a stepping stone:

  • Club shows - organised between London ABA affiliated clubs, matched carefully by experience and weight
  • Regional championships - the London ABA championships feed into national competition
  • Development events - sparring days, coaching workshops, and skills sessions run at regional level
  • Junior competition - age-appropriate formats with strict matching criteria, giving younger boxers safe competitive experience

South East London boxing

Greenwich, Woolwich, Charlton, Kidbrooke, Eltham - South East London has a strong boxing heritage. The London ABA connects clubs across these communities, creating a network of competitive and development opportunities. Our boxers regularly compete against other South East London clubs at inter-club events, building experience and friendships across the region.

What membership means for you

Even if you never intend to compete, London ABA membership means the club you train at operates within a structured, accountable framework. Standards are set at regional level, clubs support each other, and there is a community beyond the four walls of the gym. For those who do want to compete, it opens the door to London's amateur boxing circuit - one of the most active and respected in the country.
