Boxing Classes for Beginners Near Plumstead
If you have not boxed before and are thinking about starting, the two most common questions are: where do I actually go, and will I be out of my depth. The answer to the first is Honour and Glory in Kidbrooke, 12 minutes from Plumstead. The answer to the second is no.
Sessions run Monday to Friday, 7:30pm to 9pm, at 122 Broad Walk, SE3 8ND. ยฃ10 per session, no contract.
What the First Session Looks Like
You arrive and the coach assesses your level. For a beginner, that means starting with stance, guard position, and basic movement. How you stand, how you hold your hands, how you move around without crossing your feet. This is the foundation. No one skips it because everyone needs it.
You will shadow box, work the bags, and by the end of the session you will have thrown your first jab-cross-hook combination. It will not be perfect. That is not the point. The point is you have started.
What Beginners From Plumstead Actually Find
People come expecting to be intimidated. Most are not. The gym has over 200 members at various stages. Experienced boxers are focused on their own training. Coaches know how to bring new people in without overwhelming them.

Within a few sessions the movement becomes more natural. Within a month, combinations start to feel connected rather than mechanical. The skill curve in boxing is steep enough to be motivating but not so steep that progress is invisible.
The Coaches
BBBofC licensed coaches run the sessions. ABA affiliation means the club operates to formal standards, not improvised ones. Beginners get direct feedback: what is wrong, what to fix, how to improve it. The coaching is not performative. It is practical.
