Honour and Glory Boxing Club is based in Kidbrooke. Not near Kidbrooke. In Kidbrooke. 122 Broad Walk, SE3 8ND - four minutes from Kidbrooke Village and eight minutes walk from the station.

For families in the area, this matters. After-school clubs should not require a two-bus commute. The gym is close enough that older children from Thomas Tallis School can walk independently once they know the route.

Age Groups and Sessions

H&G now uses a clearer junior route:

• Junior Recreational (7-16 years): scheduled weekday group sessions for children and teenagers
• Junior Competitive (10-16 years): optional competition pathway where suitable

The age range is important. Younger children need simpler drills and more settling-in support, while teenagers can handle more technical detail. H&G now handles that inside the Junior Recreational route rather than listing a separate younger-child programme.

What Children Learn

Boxing is a skill sport. There is a curriculum: stance, guard, footwork, jab, cross, hooks, movement, working to combinations. Children progress through these over months and years.

The physical benefits are obvious - coordination, speed, strength, cardiovascular fitness. The less-obvious benefits are discipline, confidence, and the ability to handle pressure. These come from training with proper coaches in a structured environment.

The Coaching Team

Head coach Anton Pattenden leads the programme. The team is ABA affiliated and BBBofC licensed. That means they have been assessed by the national bodies that govern amateur boxing in the UK - these are not self-awarded credentials.

The club was set up to serve the local community rather than to generate profit. That changes how the gym operates and who it is accessible to.

Pricing

• Junior Recreational sessions: £8.50 per session
• Junior Competitive sessions: junior rate first; team sessions from £5 after coach invite
• No contracts, no joining fee

You pay per session. If your child misses a week due to illness or school commitments, you do not lose money. This is a deliberate policy.
