Boxing for Women in Kidbrooke: What to Expect
How Women's Boxing Works at H&G in Kidbrooke
Women's boxing in the UK has had a complicated history. For a long time it was treated as a novelty category - something squeezed in at the end of a men's training schedule. That approach produces mediocre coaching and half-hearted sessions. H&G does not operate that way.
Honour and Glory Boxing Club at 122 Broad Walk runs a proper women's boxing programme with the same standard of coaching that applies across all sessions. If you want to train seriously, the sessions are there. If you want fitness with real technique, the sessions are there too.
Who the Women's Programme Is For

Women at H&G range from absolute beginners with no sporting background to experienced competitors. The programme covers both.
New members start with the basics - stance, guard, footwork, combinations. The pace is built around actual ability, not assumptions about what women can or cannot handle. The sessions are physically demanding because boxing is physically demanding. That is the honest starting point.
Why Boxing Works Particularly Well for Women
Upper body strength and cardiovascular conditioning develop quickly through boxing training. Most women doing bag work and pad rounds for the first time are surprised by how demanding the sessions are - and how quickly they adapt.
Beyond the physical, boxing gives you a clear sense of confidence in your own body that is hard to get from running or gym circuits. When you know how to throw a proper combination and move your feet correctly, you carry yourself differently. The members report this consistently, and it is worth taking seriously.
What Sessions Look Like
Classes run Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. On Saturdays there is a dedicated Women's Boxing session at 10:00 - 11:00am, followed by open sessions 11:00am - 2:30pm. Sunday open sessions run 8:30am - 2:30pm, which is particularly well-suited for women balancing work and family commitments during the week.
Sessions follow a structured format: warm-up, footwork and shadow boxing, bag work, pad rounds with the coaches, cool-down. The pad rounds are where the technique work happens. One-on-one time with Anton or the coaching team means you actually improve between sessions rather than repeating the same patterns indefinitely.

A Note on Environment
H&G has a 4.9 Google rating. The environment matters to us. The gym is not a place where women are treated as secondary members, and feedback from coaches is about technique - not appearance.
The club was founded in 2020 with a clear mission: the priority is the community it serves, not profit margins.
