Kids Boxing Classes Near Hither Green

By H&G Team 3 min read 18 min drive from Hither Green

Hither Green has a growing young family population. The parks around Hither Green station and the quieter residential streets have attracted families who want the space and community of SE London without the price point of Blackheath.

Those families need activities for children that go beyond the standard school sports offer. Boxing, when it is properly run, is one of the better options. Honour and Glory in Kidbrooke runs a structured junior programme with two age groups, DBS-checked ABA-qualified coaches, and weekday evening sessions. The drive from Hither Green takes 18 minutes.

Infants Programme (Ages 7 to 9)

The infants group focuses on physical development through boxing movement rather than boxing as a contact sport. Children work on footwork and balance, basic punching mechanics on bags and pads, coordination drills, and the kind of sustained focus that structured activity at this age develops.

Five-year-olds arriving at the gym for the first time often come in anxious and leave asking when they can come back. The structure of the session gives them something concrete to work on and progress to measure. That immediate engagement is one of the reasons parents report such strong attendance from their children.

Sessions run weekdays from 5pm.

Juniors Programme (Ages 10 to 16)

The junior group trains boxing with genuine technical depth. Combinations, defensive mechanics, movement patterns, and pad work with coaches are all central to the session. The training is designed both for children who want to develop a lasting skill and for teenagers who may want to compete.

Kids boxing training in Kidbrooke

For those who want to take the competitive pathway, the club is ABA affiliated and can guide juniors through England Alliance Boxing registration and amateur competition. This is optional. The programme works equally well for children who have no interest in competition but want the fitness, discipline, and confidence that serious boxing training produces.

Sessions run weekdays from 5pm.

Safety Standards

All coaches are DBS checked. The ABA affiliation and BBBofC licensing apply to the coaching staff. These are not optional markers of quality in this context. They are the baseline requirements for responsible youth boxing provision.

Sparring for juniors is introduced only when coaches are confident a child is technically ready. It is not part of the early training. Parents who have concerns about contact should know that the programme prioritises skill development and that physical safety standards are taken seriously.
