PARENTS' GUIDE TO KIDS BOXING NEAR GREENWICH
What to expect from junior boxing at the Kidbrooke gym
For Greenwich parents, the decision is practical before it is sporting: is the junior class organised, will the room feel calm enough, and will your child understand what is being asked of them?
The trial happens at H&G's Kidbrooke gym. Junior Recreational is the normal first route for ages 7 to 16, with parents welcome to watch and free parking available on site. Use the first visit to judge structure, supervision and whether the class is right for your child.
WHAT GREENWICH PARENTS SHOULD CHECK
COACHED JUNIOR SESSIONS
Junior sessions are supervised, structured and run with safeguarding boundaries. Your child is coached through the basics rather than left to copy older boxers.
STRUCTURED CLASSES
Sessions follow a clear structure: warm-up, technique work, pad rounds, and conditioning. Children start with Junior Recreational (7-16), with Junior Competitive (10-16) available for boxers on the competitive pathway.
NO CONTRACTS
Check the current prices page for group-class pricing. No joining fees, no monthly contracts and a free scheduled group-class trial before you decide. If your child needs private support before joining a group, use paid personal training.
COMMUNITY VALUES
The key test is whether the junior setup, class structure and coaching tone feel right for your child.
WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL LEARN
Junior boxing is more than hitting things. Children at Honour and Glory practise footwork, balance, timing and movement through drills, bags and pads.
The non-physical side matters too: listening to instructions, respecting training partners, controlling effort and staying calm in a busy room. Parents often tell us those habits show up outside the gym too.
For children who want to compete, there is a pathway through the Junior Competitive pathway. There is no pressure to fight. Many juniors train for routine, fitness, skill and because they enjoy the club.
CLASSES FOR YOUR CHILD
JUNIOR RECREATIONAL (7-16)
Coordination, movement and basic boxing technique, adapted by age and experience.
OLDER JUNIORS (10-16)
More technical detail, pad work, combinations and fitness, still without pressure to compete.
JUNIOR COMPETITIVE (10-16)
Competition pathway for dedicated young boxers. Amateur Boxing Alliance registered.
SAFEGUARDING
Junior sessions are run inside a structured club setting with safeguarding boundaries, coach supervision and clear expectations for behaviour. Children are not left to train unsupervised.
Class sizes are kept controlled so children can be coached properly. Parents are welcome to watch from the viewing area, especially during the first few sessions.
