Charlton: How Women Train in a Boxing Club
Women Who Box
The idea that boxing is not for women is outdated enough that it barely deserves a response. Women train hard here. They spar, they compete, and they get fit in a way that most gym programmes simply do not deliver.
Honour and Glory has dedicated womens boxing sessions. The environment is focused and the coaching is technical - the same standard that applies across every programme at the club.
What the Sessions Cover

Footwork and stance first, always. Then the jab, the cross, hooks, body shots. Defence - how to move, roll, and cover - is built in from early on, not added as an afterthought.
Pad work is the main format. Bag work features in every session. Sparring is available for those who want it, on their own timeline. Nobody is rushed into the ring.
Why Women Choose Boxing Over Other Training
The honest answer from most women who have trained here for more than a month: it is the first time exercise has felt purposeful rather than punishing. Running on a treadmill is maintenance. Learning to box is a skill. The two feel completely different.
The fitness gains are real and fast. Twelve weeks of consistent boxing training will change your body composition, your posture, and your stamina more noticeably than most gym programmes.
Getting There from Charlton
From SE7, drive south on the A102 Blackwall Tunnel Approach and pick up the A2 towards Eltham. Exit at Kidbrooke. The gym is at 122 Broad Walk, SE3 8ND. Free parking on site.
Bus routes 486 and 177 serve the area, with public transport from Charlton needing more planning than driving. Use the classes and prices route to compare scheduled group classes, paid PT and the right starting point before booking.
Cost and Commitment
The main group-class routes are pay as you go with no joining fee and no monthly contract. Paid PT is separate and should be handled as a direct enquiry if you want private coach time rather than a group-class trial.
