Boxing for Fitness Near Blackheath
Blackheath has no shortage of fitness options between the heath itself, the gym chains in the area, and the various class studios around the village. If you have reached the limit of what those offer and want a workout that is both physically demanding and technically interesting, boxing training is a different proposition.
Honour and Glory is one train stop from Blackheath at 122 Broad Walk, Kidbrooke, SE3 8ND. Recreational adult sessions run Monday to Friday, 7:30pm to 9pm, at ยฃ10 per session.
The Physical Reality
A full boxing session burns between 500 and 800 calories depending on bodyweight and effort. More importantly, it works the body in a way that most single activities do not.
Movement and footwork are constant cardiovascular work. Punching with correct technique demands shoulder, back, core, and hip rotation working in sequence. Defence involves lateral movement, head movement, and reaction speed. Over an hour and a half, these elements cycle through in a way that taxes your whole system.
Most gym sessions isolate muscle groups. Boxing uses them all, sequentially and simultaneously.
Why Blackheath Residents Tend to Stay
The pattern with members from Blackheath and the surrounding area is that they start for fitness and stay for the skill. Blackheath has a thoughtful, engaged resident base that values getting genuinely good at things.

Boxing rewards that approach. The technique is deep enough that there is always something to improve. Footwork, timing, combination work, head movement. The training does not stagnate because the skill does not plateau.
The Club
Founded in 2020. ABA affiliated. BBBofC licensed coaches. Over 200 members. 4.9 stars on Google from more than 40 reviews. The club is not a commercial gym with boxing on the timetable. It is a boxing club, independently run, with coaches who have competed and coached at serious levels.
The proximity to Blackheath makes H&G one of the most accessible serious boxing clubs in south east London.
