A parent-first route for testing the Kidbrooke junior class from Bermondsey.
Bermondsey parents are not choosing a local SE1 venue. They are deciding whether the Kidbrooke junior class is structured enough, calm enough and right for their child. The group-class trial should test the coaching room: instructions, supervision, age fit and how your child responds.
For most children, Junior Recreational is the starting route. The first session is about listening, stance, guard, footwork, balance, bags, pads and controlled effort. If a child later wants a more serious boxing pathway, that conversation happens over time with coaches and parents, not on the first trial.
Use the kids boxing classes hub for the programme overview and the Junior Recreational class page for the active class route. If your child needs one-to-one coaching rather than a group class, use the paid personal training route instead.
The best first step for most children. Coordination, listening, stance, footwork and pads without pressure to compete.

From Bermondsey, the first trial should answer practical questions quickly: does your child follow the instructions, does the class feel supervised, and does the junior route fit your family?
Junior Recreational is the normal first route for ages 7 to 16. Children start with listening, balance, stance, footwork, bag work, pad work and controlled effort. Competition is a later pathway decision with coaches and parents, not a day-one target.
If the group room is not the right first step, keep that separate and ask about paid personal training. Do not use the free junior group trial as a substitute for one-to-one coaching.

We take children from age 7. Junior Recreational (7-16) is the usual starting point for beginners. Junior Competitive is available from age 10 for children who are ready for a more serious pathway.
Boxing should be introduced carefully and coached properly. Children start with age-appropriate basics, protective equipment where needed, and are grouped by age, experience and readiness.
We are 24 minutes from Bermondsey by car. By public transport it takes around 56 minutes via Bus 188 to 286. Free parking is available at our Kidbrooke gym, 122 Broad Walk, SE3 8ND.
Classes include warm-up exercises, footwork drills, technique instruction on the bags and pads, and structured games that develop boxing skills. Sessions are age-appropriate and designed to be engaging.
Boxing gives children structure, movement, listening practice and clear boundaries. At the Kidbrooke gym, Junior Recreational (ages 7 to 16) builds coordination, footwork, basic technique and controlled effort. From age 10, Junior Competitive adds a more serious amateur pathway with structured pad work, conditioning and bouts only when appropriate.
Junior sessions are supervised and structured for children and teenagers. We keep class sizes controlled so children can be coached properly. Parents are welcome to watch from the viewing area.
Children who train consistently often become more comfortable with routine, instruction and controlled effort. Some juniors later choose to compete, but the first job is safe, structured training that they can keep attending.
If you are still comparing options, start with our main kids boxing classes guide and the Junior Recreational class. For families in Bermondsey, the key questions are how easy it is to get here and what your child should expect in the first session.
