Ellis Zorro Trains at H&G with Ibz Mercan

Ellis Zorro visited Honour and Glory in Kidbrooke on 3 August to train with professional cruiserweight Ibz Mercan and spend time meeting the club's junior boxers.

Zorro is a London professional cruiserweight and former WBO European cruiserweight champion. His title win came with a seventh-round stoppage of Hosea Burton at York Hall, as Queensberry recorded from the night.

The WBO's August 2023 ratings also listed Zorro at cruiserweight with the WBO Europe designation.

A proper gym visit

The session was about training, conversation and seeing the room as it is. Zorro worked alongside Ibz, then took time with the juniors afterwards.

For younger boxers, seeing the WBO European belt in the gym made the professional game feel more tangible. A belt is not a shortcut or a promise. It is a reminder that good work is built through ordinary sessions, done properly and repeated over time.
