First class
If you are new to boxing in Charlton, start with the route that matches the person training. Adults usually test a coached group class first. Children and teenagers use Junior Recreational. Paid personal training is separate if you want one-to-one correction before joining a room.
A useful beginner session teaches the basics clearly: stance, guard, footwork, straight punches, bag rounds, pad work and how to listen during a coached round. You are not expected to know the language or look sharp on day one.
The first trial should answer whether the class feels understandable and whether the coach gives enough correction for you to return. It should not pressure you into sparring or pretend one session changes everything.
Use the adult beginner guide or Adult Recreational route for group training.
Read beginner guideChildren and teenagers should use Junior Recreational rather than an adult beginner class.
Junior RecreationalUse paid Charlton personal training if privacy or slower correction matters more than a group trial.

Arrival
Wear comfortable training clothes and trainers, bring water and arrive a little early so the coach knows you are new. You do not need to buy gloves before the first visit unless the team tells you otherwise.
From Charlton, driving to the Kidbrooke gym is usually the simplest first-session option because parking is on site. If you use buses, check the route before booking so you can focus on the class rather than rushing into the room late.
No. Beginners are expected. The first sessions cover basic movement, guard, straight punches, bags, pads and class rhythm.
No. Sparring is not a first-session requirement. The beginner route is about learning the basics safely.
Most beginners should try the group class first. Choose paid PT if you want privacy, individual correction or a slower private start.
