Structured boxing training for children aged 7-16, just 7 minutes from Blackheath
For Blackheath families, the first decision is whether the Kidbrooke junior class gives your child the structure, supervision and calm coaching they need. Junior Recreational is the normal group route from age 7. Children start with listening, stance, balance, footwork, bags, pads and controlled effort, not pressure to compete.
If your child is older, sporty or already interested in boxing, still begin with the right junior route so coaches can see how they listen, move and handle instructions. Junior Competitive is a later pathway from age 10 for young boxers who are ready for that level of commitment.
Use the kids boxing classes hub and Junior Recreational class page for the current route. If your child needs private one-to-one help instead of a group class, use the paid Blackheath personal training route before booking.
The best first step for most children. Coordination, listening, stance, footwork and pads without pressure to compete.

From Blackheath, the first trial should show whether your child listens, settles into the room and understands the coaching tone. The club in Kidbrooke is close enough to test properly before you commit to regular training.
Start with Junior Recreational unless the coaches advise otherwise. If your child needs individual support or a slower first step, keep that separate as a paid PT enquiry rather than trying to solve it through a free group-class trial.
Check the class page, book the trial, arrive a few minutes early and tell the coach if your child is nervous or new to sport. The first session should give you a practical read on fit.

We take children from age 7. Junior Recreational (7-16) is the usual starting point for beginners. Junior Competitive is available from age 10 for children who are ready for a more serious pathway.
Boxing should be introduced carefully and coached properly. Children start with age-appropriate basics, protective equipment where needed, and are grouped by age, experience and readiness.
We are 7 minutes from Blackheath by car. By public transport it takes around 24 minutes via Bus 89. Free parking is available at our Kidbrooke gym, 122 Broad Walk, SE3 8ND.
Classes include warm-up exercises, footwork drills, technique instruction on the bags and pads, and structured games that develop boxing skills. Sessions are age-appropriate and designed to be engaging.
Boxing gives children structure, movement, listening practice and clear boundaries. At the Kidbrooke gym, Junior Recreational (ages 7 to 16) builds coordination, footwork, basic technique and controlled effort. From age 10, Junior Competitive adds a more serious amateur pathway with structured pad work, conditioning and bouts only when appropriate.
Junior sessions are supervised and structured for children and teenagers. We keep class sizes controlled so children can be coached properly. Parents are welcome to watch from the viewing area.
Children who train consistently often become more comfortable with routine, instruction and controlled effort. Some juniors later choose to compete, but the first job is safe, structured training that they can keep attending.
If you are still comparing options, start with our main kids boxing classes guide and the Junior Recreational class. For families in Blackheath, the key questions are how easy it is to get here and what your child should expect in the first session.
