Kids Boxing Classes Near Barnehurst
Kids Boxing Classes Near Barnehurst
Barnehurst is a residential area with a community feel, but structured after-school activities that genuinely develop children are not always obvious. Boxing at Honour and Glory in Kidbrooke is 12 minutes from Barnehurst and runs structured sessions for a Junior Recreational route for ages 7 to 16, plus Junior Competitive from age 10 where suitable.
This is not a drop-in fitness class for children. It is a proper boxing programme with qualified coaches and a clear development pathway.
Junior Recreational: ages 7 to 16
The Junior Recreational sessions focus on coordination, movement, and fundamental technique. Children at this age learn how to stand correctly, how to move their feet, and the basics of punching. There is no contact. The sessions are energetic and structured, and most children find them immediately engaging.

The physical benefits at this age are real: balance, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to follow instructions in a physically demanding context.
Juniors: Ages 10 to 16
Juniors work on more advanced technique: combinations, defensive movement, pad work with a partner, and bag sessions. For those who want to take it further, there is a pathway into amateur competition through Amateur Boxing Alliance. For those who simply want the training, that is equally welcome.
Juniors sessions run from 5pm on Mon/Wed/Fri evenings.
Coaching Standards
All coaches are DBS checked. The club is ABA affiliated, which means coaching qualifications and safeguarding standards are held to a formal standard, not just internal policy.
Children who are taught boxing properly from an early age benefit from that technical foundation for the rest of their time in the sport. Poor habits learned early are hard to undo.
