A parent-first route for Bexley families testing the Kidbrooke junior class.
Bexley parents are choosing whether the Kidbrooke junior class is organised, supervised and right for their child. The first trial should answer simple questions: does your child listen to the coach, settle into the room and understand the instructions?
Junior Recreational is the usual first route for children aged 7 to 16. The first session is about stance, guard, balance, footwork, bags, pads and controlled effort. Junior Competitive is a later pathway conversation for children who are ready, not something promised at a first group-class trial.
Use the kids boxing classes hub for the programme overview and the Junior Recreational class page for the active class route. If your child needs one-to-one help rather than a group trial, use the paid personal training route.
The best first step for most children. Coordination, listening, stance, footwork and pads without pressure to compete.

From Bexley, the first useful check is whether the class feels calm, supervised and structured enough for your child. Parents can use the trial to watch how instructions are given, how beginners are handled and whether the route from home is realistic.
Start with Junior Recreational unless coaches advise otherwise. Children learn the basics in a group setting before any serious pathway conversation. If a child needs individual attention first, keep that as paid PT rather than trying to solve it through a free group trial.

We take children from age 7. Junior Recreational (7-16) is the usual starting point for beginners. Junior Competitive is available from age 10 for children who are ready for a more serious pathway.
Boxing should be introduced carefully and coached properly. Children start with age-appropriate basics, protective equipment where needed, and are grouped by age, experience and readiness.
We are 16 minutes from Bexley by car. By public transport it takes around 43 minutes via Bus 132. Free parking is available at our Kidbrooke gym, 122 Broad Walk, SE3 8ND.
Classes include warm-up exercises, footwork drills, technique instruction on the bags and pads, and structured games that develop boxing skills. Sessions are age-appropriate and designed to be engaging.
Boxing gives children structure, movement, listening practice and clear boundaries. At the Kidbrooke gym, Junior Recreational (ages 7 to 16) builds coordination, footwork, basic technique and controlled effort. From age 10, Junior Competitive adds a more serious amateur pathway with structured pad work, conditioning and bouts only when appropriate.
Junior sessions are supervised and structured for children and teenagers. We keep class sizes controlled so children can be coached properly. Parents are welcome to watch from the viewing area.
Children who train consistently often become more comfortable with routine, instruction and controlled effort. Some juniors later choose to compete, but the first job is safe, structured training that they can keep attending.
If you are still comparing options, start with our main kids boxing classes guide and the Junior Recreational class. For families in Bexley, the key questions are how easy it is to get here and what your child should expect in the first session.
