Some women find boxing confidence-building. It can give a sense of strength, focus and control. That is not the same as trauma treatment, and a boxing coach is not a therapist.
If you are dealing with trauma, anxiety or triggers, professional support matters. The NHS explains that PTSD can need specialist treatment, including trauma-focused therapy or EMDR where appropriate, and NHS Talking Therapies can treat adults with PTSD, anxiety and depression.
Choice matters
Training should only happen at a pace and in an environment that feels safe enough for you. A good session should make the options clear. You can train for fitness, technique and confidence without sparring. You can pause. You can ask questions. You can choose a women-only class if that feels easier.
Starting at H&G
Our women's boxing class is non-contact and beginner-friendly. If you want a quieter start, personal training may be better.
