Women's Boxing Near Bermondsey

If you have been looking for a women's boxing class near Bermondsey, the options are limited. Most gyms in the SE1 and SE16 area either do not offer boxing at all or fold women into a mixed class without any real structure for beginners.

Honour and Glory Boxing Club in Kidbrooke runs a dedicated women's boxing class every Saturday morning. It is 24 minutes from Bermondsey by car and reachable by train via South Bermondsey and New Cross. Free parking is available on site.

About the Women's Class

The class runs every Saturday from 10:30am to 12pm. It costs £10 per session. There is no contract, no joining fee, and no direct debit. You book and pay for the sessions you want to attend.

First boxing session for women

This is not a cardio class with boxing gloves added for effect. It is a proper boxing session with technical coaching, bag work, pad work, and conditioning. The coaches hold BBBofC licences and the club is ABA affiliated.

Who the Class Is For

The Saturday women's class includes members at all stages. Some have been training for a year or more. Others are in their first few weeks. Nobody is in competition with each other and the atmosphere reflects that.

You do not need any prior experience to join. You do not need to be particularly fit. Boxing training will improve your fitness, your coordination, and your confidence. Those things come with time and repetition, not as a prerequisite.

What You Will Learn

In the early sessions, you will cover the fundamentals. Stance, guard, the basic punches, how to move around without crossing your feet, how to keep your hands up when you are tired. Over time, that builds into combination work, pad sessions with the coaches, and more advanced technical drills.

The difference between learning boxing properly and doing a boxing-flavoured fitness class is significant. At Honour and Glory, you learn the sport. The fitness comes with it.

Why It Is Worth the Journey from Bermondsey

Bermondsey has a lot going for it. It does not have a serious, licensed boxing club with dedicated women's sessions. Kidbrooke is 24 minutes away and has free parking.

Many of the women who train at Honour and Glory travel from SE1, SE5, SE15, and SE16. The consistency of the class and the standard of coaching make the journey worthwhile. Members who start coming once a week tend to build a routine around it.

What to Bring

Gym kit, a water bottle, and hand wraps if you have them. If you do not have wraps yet, the gym has gloves available to borrow for your first session. Once you know you want to continue, your coach will advise on the kit you need.

The Club

Honour and Glory is at 122 Broad Walk, Kidbrooke, SE3 8ND. Over 200 members train here. The club holds a 4.9-star Google rating from more than 40 reviews. It was founded in 2020 and has grown steadily on the back of word of mouth and consistent coaching standards.

If you are based in Bermondsey and looking for training that is genuinely well-run, this is the best option within a short drive.
