Boxing Near Rotherhithe (2026 Guide)

Rotherhithe sits on a wide bend in the Thames, a former docklands area that is now predominantly residential. Canada Water and Surrey Quays are well-connected on the Jubilee Line and the Overground, but quality boxing training within the immediate area is limited.

Honour and Glory Boxing Club is at 122 Broad Walk, Kidbrooke, SE3 8ND, about 22 minutes from Rotherhithe. The club is ABA affiliated, coaches hold BBBofC licences, and over 200 members train there regularly.

Getting There from Rotherhithe

By car, the route from Rotherhithe via the A2 or through Deptford and Blackheath takes around 22 minutes. Free parking is on site at the club.

By public transport, the Jubilee Line from Canada Water to London Bridge connects to a train or bus towards Kidbrooke. The tube and Overground connections from Rotherhithe are generally good, making this a realistic option even for evening sessions.

Surrey Quays station on the Overground provides another option, connecting via London Bridge towards Kidbrooke. Total journey time by public transport is around 40-45 minutes.

What the Club Offers

Recreational adult sessions run Monday to Friday from 7:30-9pm at £10 per session. No contract, no joining fee. You pay when you attend.

Boxing coaching at Honour and Glory

Women's boxing runs every Saturday from 10:30am to 12pm at the same rate. It is a dedicated session with structured technical coaching.

Infants boxing for ages 5-9 and juniors boxing for ages 10-16 run on weekday evenings from 5pm. Both groups train separately with age-appropriate instruction.

Rotherhithe and the Wider Area

Rotherhithe borders Bermondsey to the north-west. Both areas have a strong local identity and a history connected to London's working river. The area is now home to a mixed population of long-term residents and newer arrivals, many of whom are looking for community-focused activities beyond standard commercial gyms.

Boxing at a club like Honour and Glory fits that need well. The pay-as-you-go model suits the varied schedules of people living in an urban area. The quality of coaching means the training is genuinely worth the journey from Rotherhithe.

The club holds a 4.9-star Google rating from over 40 reviews. Members from Bermondsey and Peckham make similar journeys to Kidbrooke and report consistently on the standard of instruction and the atmosphere.

What to Expect

The first session begins with a group warm-up and moves into technical work. No prior boxing experience is required. Coaches introduce new members to the basics and integrate them into the existing session structure.

Bring wraps, comfortable training clothes, and water. Free parking is on site.
