Private Group Boxing - SE London

STAG AND HEN BOXING

A private session at a real boxing gym in South East London. Up to 25 people. No experience needed. Morning recommended.

Boxing works for stag and hen dos for reasons that are not obvious until you do it. Everyone starts at zero. There is no skill gap between the group's best athlete and the person who last exercised in 2019. The learning curve is steep enough to be absorbing, gentle enough to be fun, and the pad work creates a natural structure where people are paired up and focused on each other rather than standing around.

It is also non-contact. Nobody gets punched. The sparring introduction at the end is controlled and voluntary. The group finishes having genuinely achieved something, which is a different feeling from a standard activity where half the group is watching and the other half is waiting.

Honour and Glory is a working boxing club, not a fitness studio that has added boxing classes. The coaches hold BBBofC licences. The gym has a real ring, real bags, and the equipment used by the competitive boxers who train here every week. It looks and feels like what it is.

WHAT THE SESSION INCLUDES

🥊

TECHNIQUE FOUNDATION

Stance, guard, jab, cross, hook. Everyone learns the same fundamentals from scratch. 15-20 minutes. By the end of this section, the group can throw a proper combination.

🤜

PAD WORK IN PAIRS

The highlight of every session. Pairs take turns hitting pads while the coach calls combinations. Loud, energetic, competitive. This is what people film and remember.

💥

BAG CIRCUITS

Timed rounds on heavy bags. Everyone goes at their own intensity. This is where the fitness component comes in - most people are surprised how much it takes out of them after 3 rounds.

👊

SPARRING INTRODUCTION

A controlled, slow-paced introduction to sparring for anyone who wants it. Touch-only, fully supervised, no pressure. Usually ends up being the part people most want to try once they are warmed up.

ALL EQUIPMENT PROVIDED

Boxing gloves (all sizes)
Hand pads and focus mitts
Hand wraps
Heavy bags
Headguards (sparring)
Free parking on site

Why we recommend mornings

Boxing requires coordination. It is a skill-based activity. The quality of what the group experiences is directly related to how physically present they are when they do it.

A morning session - 9am, 10am, 11am - means everyone arrives ready to actually engage with the coaching. The pad work lands better, the combinations are cleaner, the energy is there. It is also a better story: you did the hard thing first and then celebrated, rather than trying to box when you are already three drinks in from the night before.

We are not prescriptive about this. Evening and afternoon slots are available. But if you are choosing for the first time, morning is the right call.

Common questions

Does the group need any boxing experience?

None. Sessions are built for complete beginners. The technique section at the start means even people who have never thrown a punch leave knowing what they are doing. The coaching is patient, clear, and keeps things moving.

Is it safe? Will people get hurt?

The session is non-contact. Pad work and bag work are the core of it - you are punching pads and bags, not each other. The sparring introduction at the end is voluntary, slow-paced, and fully controlled by the coach. Hand injuries from wrapping incorrectly are the main risk, which is why wrapping hands correctly is one of the first things covered.

What should people wear?

Comfortable training clothes - shorts or joggers, a t-shirt. Trainers (not heeled shoes or open-toe footwear). Hand wraps and gloves are provided. People who sweat a lot may want to bring a change of clothes for after.

How do we book?

Message us on WhatsApp, use the contact form, or book a trial session first if you want to see the gym before committing. Include your preferred date, approximate group size, approximate group size, and whether it is a stag or hen do. We will confirm availability and hold the date with a 50% deposit. Final headcount can be confirmed closer to the date.

Where exactly is the gym?

Honour and Glory Boxing Club, 122 Broad Walk, Kidbrooke, London SE3 8ND. Five minutes from Kidbrooke station (Southeastern line). Free parking on Broad Walk. Roughly 15 minutes from Greenwich, 20 from Woolwich, 25 from Lewisham.

Can we add photography or video?

Yes. Bring your own photographer or designate someone to film. The pad work section photographs particularly well. We can also arrange a group photo at the end in the ring if you want a formal record of the session.
