What the results tell you

Honour and Glory has been producing competitive boxers since opening in 2020. The club competes in amateur events at regional level and has sent boxers to international competitions in Spain, Mexico, and Sweden. Some members start recreationally and later decide they want to explore competition after consistent training.

Competition is never compulsory. The majority of members train recreationally and never enter a bout. But the pathway is there for those who want it - and the coaching team includes Anton Pattenden, who holds a BBBofC trainer licence and corners professional fighters.

The junior results matter because they show the pathway working: safe beginner sessions first, coach-led progression, then competition only when a young boxer is ready.

Competition questions

How long does it take to be ready to compete?

For most adults starting from scratch, 6-12 months of consistent training is a realistic preparation period for a first amateur bout. Some people are ready earlier, some take longer. The coach will tell you when you are ready - it is not a decision you have to make alone.

What is an amateur bout like?

Amateur bouts are structured under amateur boxing rules and matched by age, weight and experience, with coaches deciding when a boxer is ready. Club shows are small events with familiar faces in the crowd. First bouts are not thrown together; the coach only agrees to a match when the preparation is right.

Does competing mean I have to spar hard in training?

Sparring is part of competition preparation, but it is controlled and coach-supervised. Recreational members never spar unless they choose to. Competitive preparation involves technical sparring, not uncontrolled hard rounds.

WANT TO COMPETE?

If you want the competition pathway, start with a coached session. We will point you to Junior Competitive, Adult Competitive, or a recreational starting point depending on readiness.
