Boxing for Teenagers Near Woolwich
Teenagers need an outlet. That is not a controversial statement - it is just physics. Energy that does not go somewhere constructive goes somewhere else. Boxing gives it direction.
At Honour and Glory, the junior programme takes young people aged 10 to 16 and gives them something genuinely worth their time.
The Junior Programme
Juniors train in a dedicated programme separate from adults. Sessions are run by BBBofC licensed coaches who understand that a 13-year-old and a 35-year-old need very different approaches.
The recreational juniors programme covers the fundamentals: stance, movement, combinations, pad work, bag work, and conditioning. Young people who show aptitude and commitment get introduced to the amateur pathway.
Cost is £8.50 per session. No joining fee, no contract.
Why Woolwich Teenagers Should Know About This

Woolwich SE18 has a proud history with combat sports. The Royal Artillery Barracks have been associated with boxing and military physical culture for over a century. The sport is not foreign to this part of southeast London.
What has been missing is a properly run junior programme within easy reach. Honour and Glory fills that gap. The gym is at 122 Broad Walk in Kidbrooke - less than 25 minutes by bus from Woolwich town centre on the 178, which stops right outside.
By train, Woolwich Arsenal is two stops from Kidbrooke on Southeastern. That is a journey a teenager can make independently, which matters for parents who cannot always provide transport.
Parents: What This Gives Your Child
Discipline is the obvious one, but it is more specific than that. Boxing training teaches young people to manage frustration - when they throw a combination wrong, they do not get angry, they correct it and try again. That habit of mind transfers. Teachers notice it. Parents notice it.
It also builds genuine physical confidence, which is different from bravado. Young people who train regularly carry themselves differently. They are calmer, not more aggressive. The sport rewards self-control.
The Club Environment
Honour and Glory has a 4.9 Google rating from over 60 members. The culture at the club is serious without being intimidating. Head coach Anton Pattenden founded the club in 2020 as a community-focused club, which shows in how it operates.
Members from Shooters Hill and Kidbrooke both have juniors enrolled. The feedback from parents is consistent: the coaches are attentive, the environment is positive, and the young people come back each week without being told to.
