Women's Boxing Near Shooters Hill
There is one dedicated women's boxing session in this part of south east London that is worth your time. It runs every Saturday morning at Honour and Glory Boxing Club in Kidbrooke, four minutes from Shooters Hill.
The Saturday Session
The women's boxing class runs from 10:30am to 12pm on Saturdays. The cost is £10 per session. No contract. No joining fee. You pay when you train.
The session is run by qualified coaches in a gym that takes boxing seriously as a sport, not as a wellness trend. You will learn actual boxing technique: stance, guard, movement, combinations, defence. The pad work is coached. The feedback is specific.
Who Trains on Saturday Mornings
Women who train at this session range from complete beginners who have never worn a pair of gloves to experienced amateurs who compete. The coaches structure the session so both groups are working at the right level.

From Shooters Hill, several women make the four-minute drive specifically because there is no comparable session closer to home. The gym also draws from Woolwich and Eltham.
What the Environment Is Like
Honour and Glory is a community boxing club, not a commercial gym. The people here are focused on improving, not performing. Women's sessions have built their own culture within the club: supportive, direct, competitive when it counts, social the rest of the time.
200-plus members train across the week. The women's session is consistently one of the best-attended on the timetable.
Common Reasons Women Start
The reasons vary. Some want to get fit without the boredom of a treadmill. Some have had an unsettling experience and want to know they can handle themselves. Some tried it on a whim and found they loved the technical challenge. Most stay because the sessions deliver results and the Saturday community becomes part of their week.
