Women's Boxing Near Catford

By H&G Team 2 min read 16 min drive from Catford

Saturday mornings in Catford have their own rhythm. Add boxing to it and the 178 bus to Kidbrooke is the shortest part of the week.

The women's boxing session at Honour and Glory runs every Saturday, 10:30am to 12pm. The cost is ยฃ10 per session. No contract, no joining fee. You book and pay as you go.

What the Session Involves

This is structured boxing training, not a fitness class with boxing aesthetics. The session begins with a warm-up and movement work, then moves into technique drills covering the basic combinations, defensive mechanics, and footwork patterns. Pad rounds with the coaches follow. Bag work closes the session.

The coaches give specific feedback throughout. They correct your stance, your guard, your hip rotation. The instruction is precise because it has to be. Technique in boxing is not optional.

Women who attend for the first time frequently expect something closer to a cardio class. The training is more technical than that, and the technical depth is what makes the fitness results better over time.

Who Attends on Saturdays

Women from Catford, Lewisham, Forest Hill, and across SE London. Ages range from early 20s to late 50s. Experience levels range from complete beginners to women who compete.

The session accommodates all of these levels simultaneously. Beginners are not separated out and left to manage on their own. Coaches circulate and provide individual guidance across the room.

Why This Over a Chain Gym Class

Progress is the short answer. In a generic boxfit class, you repeat the same movements indefinitely. Here, the technique develops week on week. After two months, your combinations flow differently. After four, your defensive movement has changed. That measurable improvement is what keeps women coming back.

The 4.9-star rating on Google from over 40 members reflects this. Community boxing clubs do not maintain that rating by accident.
