Diesel Gym Woolwich vs Honour and Glory: Different Sports
Diesel is a good MMA gym. If boxing is specifically what you want, the two clubs serve completely different goals.
About Diesel Gym Woolwich
Diesel AK Woolwich is at Unit 7, Gunnery Terrace, Royal Arsenal, SE18 6SW. Born from Artillery Kai and Diesel Gym, rated 5.0 stars from 133 reviews. A well-regarded community gym with structured coaching in Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and MMA. Membership from £99/month with a minimum 3-month commitment.
For people who want to train MMA, develop striking through Muay Thai, or learn grappling via BJJ, Diesel is a serious option. This is not a fitness-class gym - the coaching is genuine and the community is committed.
The key point: they do not teach boxing. If boxing is what you want, this is the wrong gym regardless of how good it is at what it does.

Boxing vs Muay Thai: Why It Matters
They are different sports
Boxing and Muay Thai share the concept of striking but differ substantially in technique, stance, footwork, rules, and application. Muay Thai fighters use a wider stance, slower footwork, and integrate kicks, elbows, and clinch work. None of this transfers cleanly to boxing. Training Muay Thai when you want to box is like training football when you want to play rugby - related, but not the same.
Competition pathways diverge entirely
If you want to compete in boxing - whether at club show level, regional ABA events, or beyond - you need to train boxing. Diesel can prepare you for Muay Thai and MMA competition. The ABA (England Boxing) does not run Muay Thai bouts. Only a boxing-licensed club can take you through the amateur boxing system.
Cost comparison
Diesel charges £99/month, minimum 3 months - a minimum outlay of £297 before you know if the gym is right for you. Honour and Glory charges £5-£10/session with no commitment. For boxing specifically, the financial exposure at Honour and Glory is much lower.
