BOXING COACH FOR BEGINNERS
Start your boxing journey the right way
EVERYONE STARTS SOMEWHERE
Never thrown a punch before? Good. That means you haven't picked up any bad habits. Looking for a boxing coach for beginners means you're serious about learning properly, and that's exactly what we do.
At Honour & Glory, we train complete beginners every week. Most people who walk through our doors have never boxed before. Some are nervous, some are excited, all of them leave their first session knowing more than when they arrived.
Our coaches are patient. They'll break down every technique, correct your mistakes, and build your skills gradually. No one expects you to be good on day one. We just expect you to show up and try.
WHY WE'RE GOOD FOR BEGINNERS
Qualified Coaches
BBBofC licensed, ABA affiliated. Our coaches know how to teach boxing properly. They'll build your skills on solid foundations, not shortcuts.
No Ego, No Attitude
This is a community gym. Everyone here was a beginner once. You won't be judged or made to feel stupid. Questions are encouraged.
Your Pace
We won't throw you in the deep end. No sparring until you're ready. No pressure to do more than you're comfortable with. Progress happens naturally.
Real Boxing
This isn't boxercise or fitness boxing. You'll learn actual technique. Proper stance, real punches, genuine skills you could use if you ever wanted to compete.
YOUR FIRST 12 WEEKS
Weeks 1-4
Foundations
Stance, guard, basic footwork. Learning to throw a proper jab and cross. Getting comfortable in the gym.
Weeks 5-8
Building Skills
Adding hooks and uppercuts. More complex footwork. Starting pad work with coaches.
Weeks 9-12
Putting It Together
Combinations on pads and bags. Introduction to defensive movements. Light technical sparring if you're ready.
Everyone progresses differently. This is a rough guide, not a strict schedule.
MEET COACH JON
Coach Jon specialises in working with beginners. He's patient, clear in his explanations, and brilliant at making nervous newcomers feel welcome. If it's your first session, there's a good chance Jon will be the one taking you through the basics.
He focuses on fundamentals: stance, guard, basic footwork, and your first punches. He'll correct your form without making you feel like you're doing everything wrong. By the end of your first session, you'll have thrown hundreds of jabs and know exactly what to work on.
BEGINNER QUESTIONS
Do I need to be fit to start?
No. You'll get fit by training. Plenty of our members started with zero fitness and are now in the best shape of their lives.
Will I have to fight?
Not unless you want to. Sparring is optional and only happens when your coach thinks you're ready. Many members never spar and that's perfectly fine.
What do I need to bring?
Comfortable clothes you can move in, trainers, and water. We have gloves and wraps you can borrow for your trial.
What if I'm really uncoordinated?
Then you'll improve your coordination. Boxing is a skill, and skills can be learned. Our coaches have seen it all and know how to teach anyone.
