About Fight for Peace
Fight for Peace is an international charity that uses boxing and martial arts as a vehicle for youth development. Their London Academy has been based in North Woolwich since 2007, and they also operate in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It's a remarkable organisation built around five pillars: boxing, martial arts, education, employability, and personal development.
The charity offers free boxing and martial arts sessions for young people aged 7-25. Alongside sport, they deliver mentoring, education support, and help with employment - a genuinely holistic approach to youth work.
Fight for Peace has produced competitive boxers too, running regular home shows at their academy.
About Honour & Glory
Honour & Glory is an England Boxing affiliated amateur boxing club based at the Samuel Montagu Youth Centre in Kidbrooke, SE3. We teach proper boxing to everyone from age 5 upwards - including adults, women, and senior amateurs heading into competition.
Our coaches are qualified and BBBofC licensed, led by head coach Anton with 30+ years in the sport. Sessions run on a pay-as-you-go basis from just £5.
Classes
Fight for Peace offers free boxing and martial arts for ages 7-25. Their programme is specifically designed for young people and combines sport with personal development. If you're an adult over 25, Fight for Peace isn't an option - they don't run adult classes.
Honour & Glory caters to all ages: infants (5-9), juniors (10-16), amateur boxers, recreational adults, women's sessions, and personal training. We also start younger, accepting children from age 5.
Pricing
This is where the comparison gets interesting. Fight for Peace sessions are completely free - funded through charitable donations and grants. You genuinely can't beat that on price.
Honour & Glory charges from £5 per session with no joining fees or contracts. While we're not free, our pricing is among the lowest in London for a properly affiliated boxing club. Those session fees pay our coaches fairly and keep the club sustainable without relying on grant funding.
Facilities
Fight for Peace has a purpose-built academy in North Woolwich with good facilities for training and personal development activities.
Honour & Glory operates from the Samuel Montagu Youth Centre, a modern community venue with a full-size ring, bags, and all the equipment needed for proper boxing training.
Location
Fight for Peace in North Woolwich is about 25 minutes by car from SE3, though public transport can be tricky - the area isn't the best connected. For Kidbrooke, Greenwich, or Eltham residents, it's not the most convenient location.
Honour & Glory is right in Kidbrooke, easy to reach from Greenwich, Eltham, Blackheath, Charlton, and Lee.
The Verdict
Fight for Peace does extraordinary work. If you're aged 7-25 and interested in boxing alongside personal development support, it's a brilliant option - and it's free. We have huge respect for what they do.
But if you're an adult, a woman looking for dedicated classes, or have a child under 7, Fight for Peace won't work for you. And if you're after a traditional boxing club focused purely on boxing skills and competition, Honour & Glory's dedicated coaching programme may be a better fit.
Both organisations serve their communities well - just in different ways. Come and try a session to see if we're the right club for you.
