About Double Jab ABC
Double Jab is a well-respected community boxing club based at the Moonshot Centre in Fordham Park, New Cross. They've carded over 443 boxers - a serious number that shows real commitment to the competitive side of the sport. The club has received Sport England support and works closely with local youth foundations.
They offer a solid range of classes including beginners, conditioning, pads, technique, and a "Metcon" session. Their Kangaroo Kids programme caters to younger children, and they run dedicated women's classes. Competitive boxing is by invitation only.
Double Jab has built a strong reputation in the Lewisham area and runs regular home shows at their venue.
About Honour & Glory
Honour & Glory is an England Boxing affiliated amateur boxing club at the Samuel Montagu Youth Centre in Kidbrooke, SE3. We focus on proper boxing coaching across all age groups, from infants aged 5 through to senior amateurs and recreational adults.
Our head coach Anton has over 30 years of experience, and all our coaches hold recognised qualifications. We're a pay-as-you-go club with no joining fees and no contracts.
Classes
Both clubs offer a decent range. Double Jab runs beginners, conditioning, pads, technique, Metcon, Kangaroo Kids, juniors (11-16), women's, and invite-only competitive sessions.
Honour & Glory runs infant boxing (5-9), juniors (10-16), amateur boxing, recreational adults, women's boxing, open sessions, and personal training.
The key difference: we start children at age 5 (Double Jab's junior programme begins at 11), and our competitive pathway is open to anyone who's ready - it's not invite-only.
Pricing
Double Jab charges £10 per individual session, with monthly memberships at £50 for recreational boxing and £30 for juniors. They also offer a 12-week programme at £135.
Honour & Glory sessions start from £5 for juniors and amateurs, rising to £10 for adult recreational classes. No monthly commitment required. If you train twice a week as a junior at Double Jab, that's £30/month on their membership. At H&G, eight pay-as-you-go sessions would cost £40 - but you're not locked into a monthly payment, and you can attend as many or as few sessions as you like.
Facilities
Double Jab is based in the Moonshot Centre, a modern community sports facility in Fordham Park. Good space, well-equipped.
Honour & Glory operates from the Samuel Montagu Youth Centre, a modern community venue with a full-size ring, bags, and all training equipment. Both clubs benefit from being in purpose-built community facilities rather than converted commercial spaces.
Location
Double Jab in New Cross is about a 20-minute drive from SE3, or roughly 30-40 minutes by public transport. It's accessible, but not on the doorstep for Kidbrooke, Eltham, or Blackheath residents.
Honour & Glory is right in Kidbrooke, convenient for families across Greenwich, Eltham, Blackheath, and Lee.
The Verdict
Double Jab is a quality club doing great work in the New Cross community. If you live in Lewisham borough, they're a strong choice. Their class variety is good and the community spirit is genuine.
For South East London residents closer to Greenwich, Honour & Glory offers a couple of practical advantages: younger starting age (5 vs 11), cheaper sessions (from £5 vs £10), no monthly commitments, and a more convenient location. Both clubs share genuine community values and a commitment to proper boxing.
