About Danson ABC
Danson ABC operates as part of Danson Youth Centre, a registered charity in Bexleyheath (DA7 4EZ). The boxing programme is specifically designed for young people aged 9 and up - they do not offer boxing for adults.
Classes run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with separate beginners/improvers and advanced sessions. To join advanced classes, you must first attend beginners/improvers or have existing club training experience. It's a structured, youth-focused programme run within a wider youth centre.
About Honour & Glory
Honour & Glory is an England Boxing affiliated amateur boxing club at the Samuel Montagu Youth Centre in Kidbrooke, SE3. We run classes for everyone - from children aged 5 through to adults, women, and competitive amateurs.
Our coaches hold BBBofC licences and England Boxing qualifications. Head coach Anton has over 30 years of experience. Sessions run pay-as-you-go from £5.
The Big Difference: Youth-Only vs. All Ages
The most important distinction: Danson ABC is exclusively for young people (ages 9 to teens). They explicitly state they do not offer boxing for adults.
Honour & Glory caters to everyone from age 5 upwards. This means:
- Younger children welcome: Our infant boxing programme starts at age 5, four years younger than Danson's minimum
- Adults can train too: Recreational adults, women's sessions, amateur boxing
- Family-friendly: Parents can train at the same club as their children (different sessions)
- Personal training: One-to-one coaching from £30/hour for any age
Classes
Danson runs beginners/improvers (Tue/Thu 18:30-19:30) and advanced (Tue/Thu 19:30-20:30), plus a combined session on Wednesdays (19:00-20:00). Three evenings a week, youth only.
Honour & Glory's timetable covers more days and more session types, including specific age-group classes, women's sessions, open training, and personal training.
Pricing
Danson's pricing isn't published online. As a youth charity, rates are likely subsidised and affordable.
Honour & Glory's junior and amateur sessions start from £5 - among the cheapest in London for a properly affiliated boxing club.
Location
Danson Youth Centre is in Bexleyheath, about 20 minutes by car from SE3. It's reasonably accessible for Welling and Bexleyheath residents, less so for Greenwich.
Honour & Glory in Kidbrooke is better positioned for Greenwich, Eltham, Blackheath, and Lee.
The Verdict
Danson ABC runs a good youth boxing programme within their youth centre. If you're a teenager in Bexleyheath and want to learn boxing, it's a solid local option.
But Danson's limitations are clear: no children under 9, no adults, no women's classes, and a small weekly schedule. Honour & Glory offers a complete boxing club experience - all ages from 5 upwards, all genders, recreational and competitive, with qualified coaches and England Boxing affiliation.
